It did not take me long to realise that Men are not socialised nor trained to be 'at home'.
This is something that I had no real concept of when my partner and I talked about one of us being an at-home-parent, when and if we had kids.
Now a couple of years into being a DadAtHome, the most recent year with a Kindy/Pre-School kid and a new baby, I am starting to understand lots of things that I didn't before.
Like, the kitchen and laundry.
The bathroom.
The toilet.
The washing machine.
The washing line.
Nappies.
Vacuuming.
Nappies.
Meals.
The price of groceries, what's on weekly special and where.
Who's who at the creche and school.
Time taken away from me when caring for little people.
All the above, plus having primary responsibility to do the home renovations.
And the garden.
And the firewood.
And the car.
Thank goodness I'm not good at ironing.
Or dusting.
Or sewing.
Or breatfeeding.
Then I'd really be busy.
And, all this on top of a desire to turn my business ideas into reality.
Thank goodness for my new shed.
I reckon I've earnt it.
