Electronification -
the Electronical Revolution (cont)

Electrons are important as they

  • are a 'stable elementary particle' found in all atoms,
  • have an 'indivisible' negative charge
  • and are the carriers of electricity through solids.

Electricity is the driving force for the all important electronics that are THE central components of Electronification.

As electricity powers electronics, the reliable creation and transmission of electricity IS a critical Electronification industry.

The current (puns intended) trend of governments NOW selling their constituents' electrical power generation and transmission capacities to private operators, means communities and most businesses will have little or no future influence over the means of electricity's creation and transmission. This lack of influence is important as communities and business will want and NEED electricity - it is the indispensible fuel of the 21stC, like flamable oil-based liquids were to 20thC Industrialisation.

But, look at the impacts the extraction of oil has had on the world's environment, let alone the use of oil-based products.

And look at the reliance on nuclear-fuel for generation of electrical power in the world's most heavily industrialised nations.

And look at the track record of the oil-producing/processing industries in terms of safety - probably pretty good in terms of the volumes involved, but always devasting to the local environment when something does go wrong.

And look at what accidents are already happening with nuclear-fuel, let alone the problem of 'safe storage' of the 'waste' produced!

More environmentally-friendly means of electricity production are therefore paramount.

Naturally-generated-electricity (eg solar, wind, tidal and hydro) is probably the world's best option and who-ever sets the pace in this field, will be the 'oil-barrons' of the 21stCentury.

Similarly, the development of ever-increasingly efficient means of storing naturally-generated-electricity will also be a significant 'money-spinner'.

Of course, the development of a perpetual motion machine -a machine that once set in motion, creates more energy that it takes to start and (presumably continue) the motion - will 'trump' any other development in this field.

But think of it, once you owned a perpetual motion machine (a ?"Permochine"), you would need little or no 'external' generation or transmission of power. There will be plenty of vested interests making sure such a Permochine never comes into being, or at least not for quite a while - not until one or two military/space interests have had first use ... for a while.

While electrons, electronics, environment and electricity are extremely important underlying terms for Electronification, so is the word election.
